Kornit Apollo price and Presto Max price are only the beginning. This procurement manager's guide covers TCO, DTF printer oven workflow, and what an XP600 DTF printer review won't tell you.

Stop comparing the Kornit Apollo price and the Kornit Presto Max price side by side. They are built for different production problems, and if you buy based on the one-line quote, you can easily overpay for five years. The price that matters is the cost per successfully shipped garment, not the cost of the machine.

I say that after six years of managing a $1.2 million annual equipment budget for a 40-person apparel decorating company. I've negotiated with 25+ vendors, tracked every invoice in our cost system, and built a TCO spreadsheet that I still update after every quote. If you typed "kornit apollo price" into Google, keep reading. The number in the first result won't tell you what you actually need to know.

Quick caveat: prices in this article come from quotes we received in Q3 2024, plus supplier presentations. As of January 2025, Kornit still doesn't publish list prices on its site. Verify current pricing before you make a decision (as of January 2025, at least).

Apollo or Presto Max: Decide Your Workflow First

Before asking price, ask what you are producing. The Apollo is made for direct-to-garment printing on cut garments—high volume, item by item. The Presto Max is a roll-to-roll fabric printing system. You can't swap one for the other; they are different production lines. (This aligns with Kornit's product documentation as of January 2025. Check kornit.com for current specs.)

If you print orders of 50 to 500 shirts in multiple sizes, Apollo fits. If you need continuous custom lengths of fabric, Presto Max fits. And if you aren't sure which one fits, stop and pull 12 months of order data. In Q2 2024, I watched a shop buy a Presto Max because they were seduced by the speed numbers, only to discover they had no cutting and sewing workflow. That mistake was not a price problem; it was a workflow problem.

Kornit Apollo Price: What a Real Quote Looks Like

Publicly, there is no single "Kornit Apollo price." In our Q3 2024 sourcing round, Apollo quotes came back between $265,000 and $342,000 before installation. The low quote didn't include a spare parts kit. The high quote included 12 months of priority service and a second pretreat module. Which one is the real price? Neither.

Then you add electrical upgrades, air compressor, ventilation, operator training, consumables, maintenance, and downtime. On our first digital textile system, extras added 18% to the base quote. If you don't include those, you aren't comparing systems—you're comparing brochures.

Kornit Presto Max Price: The Capital Tier Most Shops Underestimate

Presto Max is not an upgraded Apollo. It is a production print line for fabric. The quotes we collected in 2024 were in a different capital tier. Our most complete Presto Max budget estimate came to $720,000 fully configured, before floor prep and air handling. I also saw less-complete quotes around $600,000, but they left out ink delivery and cure modules. I'm sharing this not to give you an exact price but to show the range of what "Presto Max price" can mean.

That $120,000 gap between $600,000 and $720,000 is not a discount negotiation. It's configuration and site readiness. If your vendor quotes you the $600,000 number and doesn't mention electrical, air, and ventilation, red flag.

Where DTF Printer Ovens and Canon DTF Printers Fit

I get asked: "Why spend six figures on Kornit when a DTF printer oven and a DTF printer Canon setup can do the job for less?" The answer isn't "because DTF is bad." DTF is a legitimate method. But when I evaluated DTF for our lower-volume side, I learned that the printer wasn't the cost driver. The oven was.

DTF printer oven speeds determine your bottleneck. If the oven can't keep up with the printer, your operator waits, and your cost per transfer climbs. I almost ordered a DTF setup after reading reviews that focused on print quality. I caught the bottleneck only because I timed the full process, from printed film to pressed garment. That's prevention over cure: check the workflow before you buy.

What an XP600 DTF Printer Review Won't Tell You

Search for an XP600 DTF printer review and you'll see plenty of videos with good colors. Most of them won't mention the white ink maintenance schedule. The XP600 is a common printhead in DTF and can produce solid results. But white ink settles and clogs. You need a strict daily maintenance routine. Skip it, and a $2 shirt becomes a $30 headache after rework and reburn. Over a month, those headaches erase the savings from a cheap printer.

That doesn't make DTF worthless. It makes it a different workflow. A shop doing 100 transfers a day might be smart to run an XP600 DTF printer, a Canon DTF printer, or similar, with a properly sized oven. A shop doing 1,000 repeat shirts a day will probably find the economics shift to industrial DTG. Different tools for different volumes.

5-Minute Checks That Saved Me Thousands

Every expensive problem I've had in procurement was avoidable. The "free setup" wasn't free. The "extended warranty" didn't matter if the site wasn't ready. Here are the checks we now run before signing any equipment order:

  • Air compressor capacity. We once quoted a DTF oven and a DTG system without checking the compressor's duty cycle. The compressor was fine for screen printing but not for continuous air. Adding a second compressor raised the project by $6,500.
  • Power requirements. A Presto Max quote assumed 480V three-phase was available. It wasn't. The electrical upgrade added $14,000 to the project. That's the kind of number that never appears in a brochure.
  • Operator ramp-up. On our first digital printer, we budgeted for training but not for the first week of slow production. That week cost more than the training. Now I ask every vendor to quantify a ramp factor.

The TCO Mindset That Changed My Decisions

When I first started managing vendor relationships, I assumed the lowest quote was the best choice. Three budget overruns later, I learned about total cost of ownership. I do not care about base price alone.

Kornit systems tend to retain value better than commodity equipment because there's an active resale market for industrial DTG and roll-to-roll fabric printers. But that only helps if you buy the machine your order flow can feed. The worst machine isn't the most expensive one; it's the one sitting idle.

When Not to Buy a Kornit Apollo or Presto Max

Here's the honest boundary: if you're printing fewer than 5,000 placements a month, an industrial Apollo is probably overkill. A used Kornit Atlas or a well-run DTF printer oven setup might make more sense. If you mostly print dark garments in very small batches, the pretreat workflow may hurt more than Apollo helps. And if you don't have the electrical load, floor space, and a trained operator, no price makes sense.

I'm not saying this to talk you out of Kornit. I'm saying it because the brand's value is reliability at scale, and reliable scale only helps when you have scale. The best procurement decision is the one where the machine fits the orders you already have—not the orders you hope to get.
